If you are a senior in high school and would like to reduce your stress in regards to college admissions, you may want to look into direct admissions. Direct admissions means that colleges will offer admission to qualified students before they even apply to the college. Each college sets their eligibility criteria and when students apply via the Common App and meet the criteria the college will offer you admissions into their college. This offer is not binding, so even if you are offered admissions to the college/colleges you are not required to accept the offer.Â
Participating colleges in the direct admissions program look at up to six eligibility requirements:
-Citizenship status
-Cumulative GPA, GPA scale, and GPA weight
-Common App Fee Waiver response
-Highest education level of parents
-Legal sex (if applicable)
-Permanent home address
If you receive a Common App Direct Admissions offer and you would like to accept that offer, the next step is to submit an application to the college before their latest available deadline.
There are a total of 117 colleges and universities that are participating in this program. You can find the list of all participating colleges and universities here. Out of those 117 colleges and universities six of them are from Minnesota.Â
-Augsburg University
-College of St. Benedict
-Concordia University, St. Paul
-Hamline University
-Saint John's University
-The College of St. Scholastica
